Nefara tossed her bag onto the passenger seat, before getting into the driver's seat and starting the car. "You good?" she called back. "Yes," Elvira answered. Nefara check to make sure everything was good. They had all spent the past hour taking boards and curtains to block out the sun in the back part of the two cars. Alleron and her would both be drivers. Carden was with Alleron, and Elvira was hiding in the back, while she drove. I'm good. Let's go., she told Alleron. She pulled out into the drive away and hit the gas, following Alleron. She'd never before dared to drive so fast, but everything was new. She wasn't afraid of any cops, and eye really dying for that matter. It was more the fact of get away. In less then ten minutes they hit the highway, and were speeding across the road. Nefara drove in silence for some time, only listening to the smooth thrumming of the engine. Finally she remembered something. "Mom?" she asked, feeling strange to say that word. It was nice though. "What about Gabriel?" she asked. "You said you sent him on a task? Does he know that we've left?" "No," Elvira responded through the wall that had been set up in the middle of the car. "What? Then how will he find us? Or catch up to us?" "That is his problem," Elvira responded. "I don't trust him, and I know that he doesn't want to stay with us..." "Oh... ok," Nefara said with a frown. "And what was this 'task' you sent him on, then?" Elvira was silent for a moment before speaking. "There are vampires. Old vampires, that are after us. And they now have another young vampire. Newly turned." Nefara blinked as a vision of Dexter as a vampire flashed before her eyes. She gasped. A car honked at her, as she almost slid into their lane. Nefara righted the car, before listening to what Elvira was saying. "I sent him to hopefully kill the vampires, or however many there are." "Alone? Weakened? The odds---" "Are against him, yes. I'm indifferent though. If he dies, well he dies. If he lives, well he lives. If he lives, I'm counting on him to succeed. Should he fail... and live, then he would wish to never meet me again," Elvira said. "Gabriel knows the consequences of failure.... Either way, he's a distraction for us, allowing us to escape." "So you don't want him to find us..." she asked. "I'm sure that we will see Gabriel again," Elvira answered. "But this is his opportunity to run. He's always running," Elvira said with a mocking in her voice. "Gabriel has never been happy with what he has or where he is..." Elvira said. Nefara nodded, taking it all in. Her feelings to Gabriel were mixed, and she never really knew his whole story. Only bits and pieces from various visions... She remembered him as Chris. She would have to ask her mother more about Gabriel sometime, but at the moment, her thoughts were preoccupied. "Do you know where where Alleron is leading us?" she asked. Nefara hadn't had the time to ask many questions. And if she did, she was given illusive answers. "Alleron and Carden have various residencies across the world..." Elvira started. "The house we stayed at was one of the more permeation homes of Alleron's... We're going to Chicago." "Chicago? That's a thirteen hour drive!" Nefara gasped. "Besides, we could run there faster than we can drive!" she grumbled. (They're in Massachusetts State right now) "We can hide out in the city for a while. Besides, there's plenty of friends there. We'll get in touch," Elvira said, evenly. "Running might be faster, but this will work. Running will be a backup plan. And you know that Carden and I can't run during the daylight hours..." Nefara sighed, and sped up. It was going to be a long trip.

(I will. Bassically I had the idea from Cirque Du Freak that vampires have courts, Elders were mostly in charge and highly powerful and experienced. But they are more like conspired against one another with thousands of small loops and locks that make it hard for any one vampire to overthrow another without upsetting the enitre court. Like World Wars, everyone is allianced with such and such and when one breaks an alliance everyone gets to one side or another. Thats the vampire Court with Elders. If that can explain it. So far the Elder in Dexter has no name, he has switched bodies and taught each one new tricks, If you get what I mean it bassically is that he keeps going for a new body, he is a traitor, even more than Gabriel. He wants more power.)
Lauren stood there. "Cecilia, we need your help. Dexter is not insane, Nefara and Elvira are not who they seem to be. He sees dark times if they were to rise. We cannot allow Nefara to gain anymore power then she has. Or the Vida will die, and when we are all dead, who will keep this world from changing into a hell." Lauren shyd away. (Lol I just remembered DayBreakers... I think that is something that will happen in this rp XD) Dexter stood forth, almost in the sunlight but just enough in the shade. "Cecilia, will you help us? We already have recruited a few as well as that traitor Gabriel. And I do not like him one bit, we need you on the inside, they will trust you more then anyone of us. Well more then me. And Lauren is just more of a child to them." Lauren looked at him, he was right... "What do you say?" Lauren asked with intent on her face. The child inside her gone.

(I love Cirque Du Freak! Darren Shan is an amazing author! ;D Yea, earlier in the roleplay, I had implied that although the vampires were nowhere as unified as the Kriivida (who are ruled under one Council), they do have their Courts (which I guess has now been identified as Elders ). In a few visions earlier, Alleron and Carden mention fighting hundreds of years ago against the Kriivida in all out battles (imagine those medieval battles...) and that the Courts fought amongst each other as much as the Kriivida. Although their common enemy was the Kriivida. Alleron mentions (really early on) that he used to help rule one of those courts. They're especially big in the Old World, and the courts have really fallen from power, as the vampires have also become more secluded... But, I guess the Elders still do exist. And as they are implied in their name, they're old, and to any vampire, age is power. So I guess we're on the same track... That's good. XD But my questions is, Dexter's body is new. So he shouldn't be that powerful... Right? Only his knowledge is...?

Cecelia shook her head, torn. She wanted to help Lauren. No way could she go home, back to her old Kriivida life. Her people were probably looking for her. She was a traitor, she realized suddenly. Allying herself, helping the vampires, capturing and allowing Sam to be tortured... What had she done? The Kriivida were the peacekeepers of the world. They were the protectors of humanity! She should have never aligned herself with vampires. It was wrong. If she said yes, it would be the final straw... What about her family? Her sister? They were strong, loyal Kriivida. What did they think now? That she was dead? Cecelia ducked her eyes. She looked Lauren and Dexter. "Why do you want to kill Nefara and Elvira?" she asked. "Did you not just hear me? The Kriivida will perish, humans will perish..." Dexter started. "No, I heard that. But shouldn't you want that?" Cecelia asked. "I mean, you're a vampire. You should want the Kriivida to die..." Cecelia said, eyes hard. "And how is it even possible for Nefara and Elvira to take over?" she demanded. If she was going to agree with this plan, she at least wanted clear answers.

Dexter stepped back as the sun rounded the tree. "I cannot explain everything, but courts are actually talking to eachother. They might merge... and they want Nefara. With her powers they can make thousands of daywalkers. And with Elvira they would be unstoppable against your kind. What other choices do you have? Be a traitor to your kind. Or have them all be killed?" Lauren hid her fear. Something was not right with Dexter.

When Cecelia didn't immediately respond, Dexter continued. "Cecelia! Do you want your friends and family killed? Slaughtered like sheep?" he demanded. "No," Cecelia said. "Then you have to help us kill Nefara and Elvira." "I... I can't," Cecelia said, so softly that Lauren could hardly hear her. She saw something dark flash over Dexter's eyes. "I just want to find Zach," she said. Cecelia looked at Lauren, appealing almost. "I never made any pacts or promises with anyone by myself," she said. "I promised myself that I would rescue you from Sam, because I saw you as a friend, as family almost... But this? No, Sam is dead, so my promise to myself..." Dexter interrupted Cecelia. "How can you be so... so... short sighted!?" he snapped. "Your little friend, Zach, won't be the only person to die if you don't help!" "Are you threatening me?" Cecelia snapped back. She couldn't take it! "No, I don't care. I'm going to find Zach, with or without your help, Lauren," she said, turning away. She stopped, and turned around to look straight at Lauren, ignoring Dexter. "You know, you leaving Nefara... It... changed her," Cecelia said. "You weren't there to see that change, but something... happened..." she said. "Perhaps you were Nefara's last link to humanity..." Cecelia said flatly. "Where do you stand? What do you really believe in?" she asked, "Because from your choice, you don't even know yourself..." With that, Cecelia turned and started to walk away.

Gabriel watched quietly, hopeful that they wouldn't notice him. He saw Cecelia walking his way, he didn't want to stop her, she had meant something to Chris, probably because she had been the first real link to Gabriel's past. He grabbed her arm and pulled her behind the tree. His hand on her mouth, he could see the attempts to scream in her eyes. "I won't hurt you. Not you." He whispered, flitting further away from Dexter and Lauren. Nodding at the Kriivada before he pulled his hand away. "I promise." "Your promises mean nothing!" Cecelia snapped. "True." He said, looking behind all the trees to see Dexter and Lauren still standing on the same place. "When you find Zachary, your friend, run, run as far as you can. Get away from America, hide, because I can't stop Elvira and Nefara, no one can." Cecelia nodded, though he didn't pay attention to that. He stared like death, motionless. "What are you going to do?" She asked. Gabriel pointed his eyes at her, fast. He tasted the air, picked up Dexter's scent. Used the powers he had, which were stronger than Elvira's and Dexter's, older, to uncover Dexter's real hiding place. There was one perfect way to follow the Vampire's trail, yet, that would give away a surprise attack. "I'm going to kill Dexter, or get killed myself." He flitted towards Lauren and Dexter, ignoring the Kriivada, as he slipped through the Vampire's unreal image and followed the trail. It didn't matter how far, but he would get there. He would get there, and he would kill Dexter, to protect Nefara.

Cecelia blinked and Gabriel was gone, moving faster than the eye can track. She felt the rough bark against her back, as she leaned against the tree. Everything was moving so fast. She had a feeling that if she went back to Alleron's house, everyone and everything would be gone. Where would she even start to try and find Zach? The time spent with the vampires was all a blur. She needed to get back to the regular, mundane world. What day was it? The date? Cecelia sighed, feeling the weight of the truth. She was an In-between. Belonging nowhere. She'd gone against her people... though for the best intentions... and she knew that she could never belong with the darker world. She would go insane, as many Kriivida had before her. She worried for Lauren. It was dangerous: to live with vampires, especially ones so powerful and old. People eventually lost themselves, turning away from their natural abilities. Cecelia heard the stories, of Kriivida who had chosen to ally themselves to the vampires. Many times, they would live the same nocturnal lives, when a Kriivida, more than anyone else needed to sun. It destroyed them, hurt them... She couldn't explain it... Cecelia glanced back at Lauren and then took off, running-not as fast as Gabriel-but fast enough to leave Lauren before she could decided to go back...

Dexter turned and saw Gabriel flit off. He pulled his aura back into his body. He shook his head to see Kenneth sitting there smoking. Dexter smirked. "Gabriel will be here soon...". Kenneth smiled and took his leave from the small cavern room they had made. He went outside the little indentation into the massive caverns that filled the area. They were a labrynth and water dripped everywhere. Running water exited into the calm clear lake that the cavern morphed around. The water still, but moving into a drain. Kenneth knew what laid beneath. As well did Dexter. Well not Dexter, but his friend. The voice chilled him and smirked inside his head. Dexter took another bag of B- blood and drank it slowly. He stood up and waited. A minute passed before they heard someone entering. It was not hard when the entire cave's enterence was wet from the river that flowed against it. Dexter watched and then hid himself. He snuffed out the fire with his hand and waited for whoever to enter.
Lauren watched Dexter leave. She walked back seeing town just a mile away. She was almost... home... what would her school say for her absence! She missed class... what did Ms. McGlocklin put out that she was not there for... She began to run.

Nefara eyed the cup of coffee in front, as Alleron slid into the booth besides her. "Drink up," he said with a grin. "Coffee? Seriously?" Nefara said, with an incredulous laugh. "Yea, why not?" Alleron said, as he leaned back in his seat. A moment later Elvira walked over, skirting the last rays of sunlight that fell in from the curtained window. Nefara looked up at her. They'd bought some new clothes for everyone, especially Elvira. Elvira hadn't had a good chance to really get with the mundane world. Carden glanced from Elvira to Nefara. "What?" Nefara asked, feeling a bit annoyed. "You two... you could pass as sisters," Carden said with a grin. "I mean, you're what, 20? And Elvira is only more or less ten years older than you?" "Oh, shut up," Nefara said. But it was true. Nefara and Elvira were both young, with long black hair. She shook her head, and took a sip from the coffee absent-mindlessly. "Ugh, coffee," she said, as she realized that she'd drank it. Alleron looked amused. "You liked coffee, I thought," he said. "Yea, but that was... before," Nefara complained. Carden shrugged. "Unlike us, it will still effect your system," he pointed out. Elvira frowned at this. "Really? You can live off human food?" she asked. "Yea," Nefara said, "but I need blood to stay a the top of my game." Elvira nodded, thinking. "So, why did we stop here?" Nefara asked. "We had to take a break. Besides, the city is less than 50 miles away. We'll be there after dusk." Nefara sighed, as she finished the rest of the coffee. She could already feel that feeling that came with the caffeine rush; interesting. She always hated driving. She wanted to run, to move, to not be so idol. "So, what now?" she asked, looking around the diner. Carden stood. "Chicago is the one of the biggest cities, and where there's lots of people, there are vampires," he said. "We can gather strength there. We all have friends in the city. It's also a good way to blend in for the moment, organize." "There are also a lot of Kriivida strongholds there," Alleron pointed out. "All the more fun," Carden grinned. He looked at Nefara and Elvira. "Let's get on the road. I would like to go clubbing tonight. It seems like it's been forever since I had some fun!" Carden said, looking at Alleron. "You'll be joining me, right?" "Rather not," Alleron said flatly. "You can go and have your... fun," he said, "just be careful. We would like not to get in trouble our first hour in the city."
Cecelia hesitated before ringing the doorbell. She heard footsteps before a young woman with similar complexion opened the door. "Cecelia...!" the woman gasped. "You're alive!!! Oh my God! Bless the sun!" the woman cried, stepping out and wrapping Cecelia in a firm hug. Cecelia was suerprised, and took a moment before she could return the hug. After a second, the young girl stepped back. "Oh, I've missed you!" turning, "Mom! Ce! She's back!" Cecelia smiled, happy to see her sister. "Oh, Liv, I've missed you too." She stepped over the threshold into the familiar hallway. Her mother ran over, wrapping her into a warm embrace. "Oh, Cecelia..." she said. "What happened? We heard that you were taken..." she said. Cecelia nodded. That had probably been Sam's cover story. When a Kriivida is taken, means that vampires have stolen them away to probably bleed, torture and or kill... for either pleasure or for information. Or both. "We assumed you were dead..." her mother said full of tears. "Sam said--" "Sam is dead," Cecelia interupted. "We need to call a meeting with the Council. Now."

Gabriel stayed soundless when he entered a weird cave-like place. He stopped, trying to be firmiliar with his surroundings before starting a fight. He sensed Dexter's aura, and that of someone else, someone he couldn't place his finger on. He took a few steps into the cave. There was no way back now. It was either kill or be killed. Yet, he hoped that he could find any way out.

Nefara looked at herself in the mirror. She looked... older. She saw her mother join her, as she came, and looked at the two of their reflections in the mirror together. "You know, Carden is right," Elvira said. "We could pass as sisters," she said with amusement. Nefara snorted. "Perhaps... So what now?" she asked, as she turned away from her reflection to look out the balcony window. They had gotten two hotel rooms in the middle of Chicago. "We'll need to be careful. Alleron and Carden are working on getting in touch with some other friends that live in the city," Elvira said. "That leaves us two to hold down the fort," she said with a smirk. Nefara laughed. Despite all the danger and tension that she'd been going through, she felt a surge of happiness. They were safe, even if it was only temporary, and she was really getting time with her mother, a woman she barely knew. Alleron was with her, and Carden, who of course was probably coming along just for kicks (but enjoyed none the less). The only damper was Lauren; that nagging regret that she didn't convince her to stay. But forget her. Lauren had already forgotten her. She was nothing. Elvira laughed too, leading Nefara to the bed. She sat down, folding her legs underneath her. Nefara sat besides her, feeling the cool air from the window. "What's really the plan though? You must have one..." Nefara said after a peaceful moment. Elvira looked at her with dark eyes. "I've had many plans," she said. "But they all seem for naught. I used to dream of what might be, what could have been. There are so many different paths, possibilities..." she sighed. Elvira looked at Nefara, who could see the old weariness that was so seated in Elvira. "I used to believe that vampires and Kriivida could... somehow coexist," she said, "but it was a naive hope." Nefara nodded, looking at the cars below. Elvira continued: "As long as we exist, the Kriivida will be our enemies...And the courts, well they no longer really exist," she murmured. "Courts?" Nefara asked. "As in, royalty and stuff? Or the one with the jury...?" Elvira smiled. "The 'royalty and stuff' one," she said. A long time ago, there were many courts that existed, along with the other mortal courts that also existed across Eurasia. In the beginning, any old and or powerful vampire could rise to power and create a court for himself. There existed as much fighting amongst our kind as we fought against humans and Kriivida. It was bloody, dark times..." she said. "Over time, many of the courts fell or condensed, leaving about five major bloodlines. The strongest was in France, but nothing is permanent," Elvira said. "Now, many of these courts have fallen, and are nothing like their glory days, especially in America. What really exists are groups of vampires that work together, usually under some sort of leader. It's hard to have so many vampires in one area, unless they're in a city or something," she said. "Why did the courts fall?" Nefara asked, interested in the story. Elvira was quiet for a moment. "The last recognized court in France fell... because of us."
Carden searched the crowd. It was a nice group--young, youthful, beautiful--the best kind. Alleron's voice pulled him back. "We're not here to have 'fun'," he said. Carden rolled his eyes, puling them away from a pretty blonde who was standing at the bar, taking to some friends. "Yea, whatever," he said, leaning back. "But I'm going to at least enjoy myself, while we're in the city," he said. Alleron nodded, his eyes searching the crowd for something else. A woman made her way through the crowd, dressed in slick black clothes. She smiled and sat down besides them. "Hello, boys," she said with a grin. "Sorry to keep you waiting." "Miranda," Carden said with a laughed. "Long time no see. Alleron didn't say we would be meeting you." Miranda laughed, flashing her teeth blatantly. "So, what bring you two to the Windy City? Besides, last I heard, you two weren't on speaking terms," she said with a grin. "Long story," Alleron said, just as Carden said, "Oh no, he's still an ass." Alleron shot him a look, while Carden put his hands up with a grin. "Anyway," Alleron continued, "Why don't you order yourself a drink and sit. It's a long story, as I said."

Dexter rounded the corner and sliced a knife into Gabriel's chest. He pressed him against the wall. The knife paralyzed him but left him alive. "Glad you can join us..." Dexter took the knife out. "Us?" He felt a laugh behind him as a dark figure stepped around. "You know me, that is Kenneth. A missionary." "For what."Gabriel asked as he moved foward with Dexter and Kenneth. Kenneth smiled. "To change the vampires entirely. To overthrow those who destroy and kill our kind. And now the new daywalkers re-arise. Dexter shot him a death glare. "Right... I wasn't suppose to tell you that." Gabriel looked confused. "What do you mean. Re-arise?" Dexter sighed. "Back a few centuries ago, we had a problem with the Kriivida and the vampire merge. A powerful semi-vampire who didn't live as long as us, they aged almost a hundreth their regular speed. Unlike we who never and barely age. Well this one decided to join the Kriivida. Leading them all to the vampire's hideout. It was a deadly era for us. But mine court had found a way to kill him. You see they had more power, but he got a little too cocky. Trusted all vida. That is what killed him was our rat. In the middle of the night." "So.. am I your rat?" Dexter smiled. "Catch on fast. But yes you are ours. As of now you do not even know we exsist. Nor our court, infact you only know that you should be going after Nefara and backstab Elvira-" Gabriel stood shocked. "Kill Elvira? But why not Nefara." Dexter laughed. "We already have someone for that..." Gabriel waited for an answer. But none came. "Who?" Dexter looked at him a bit strange. "If we told you, she would die. You are a traitor, we know this already. Whether you choose to betray us or them you will betray someone. That or you can betray both and run. So tell me Gabriel. Whose side do you choose?" Kenneth picked up a crude looking haliberd. And downed on some padded leather armor.
Lauren kept walking. She checked her phone, dead. But she kept going. She walked into the dorms and went upstairs to her room. The broken window was still there... glass everywhere. It was still time-locked. She picked up the glass cutting her hand a bit but without care. She closed the door and plugged her phone in. It went on and suddenly began to ring. Someone was calling... She picked it up and looked at the number. There was a contact saved on her phone. By the name of Isobel. She didn't even know one. She let the phone ring and it hung up. She checked the number. It was not even a real number. She put the phone down and walked away. It was strange. But she didn't care. Right now she had to get back to studing. She opened up her book and there was a small note. Meet out behind School at 0000hrs. There was a small signature. She almost recongnized it.... (Dun dun dunnnn....)

Nefara frowned. "Wait... what do you mean?" she asked. "How could I cause such a thing like that?" "Because you are wanted, desired, and hated," Elvira said, simply. "And I was the one who carried you. It was centuries ago... And it's too detailed to get into now, but lets just say I made many enemies, and fewer friends," she said, her face clouding over. "And the trouble with most of them is that forever is still, well forever," she said, grimly. "Why can't we fight them?" Nefara asked, her temper simmering. Elvira laughed. "Do you even know who 'they' are? Much less where they are? No, I don't even know how many are still alive, or even who I may have offended in the hundreds of years I've been alive." Nefara sighed. She hated just sitting around the hotel room, but it had been agreed that she and Elvira would stay and Carden and Alleron would go. Travel in pairs. She looked at the wedding and engagement ring strung on a chain about Elvira's neck. "You still wear your wedding ring," she said. Elvira's hand went to her neck automatically, fingering the two rings. "Yes..." she said. "Why?" Elvira gave a sad smile. "To remind myself why I keep fighting," she said. "You know the story right?" Nefara nodded. "Yea, I think..." "Well that day it wasn't just the Kriivida who sentenced me to death, and murdered your father," she said. "There were plenty of vampires too. It became a mess. I still don't understand everything that happened, even to this day... So much of my life was spent either running, fighting, hiding, and searching for answers, that I couldn't dwelve on the past, but the future. Sam wasn't my only enemy," Elvira warned. "There are plenty of others, older, more powerful enemies, vampires even, who would like to kill or take either of us," she said. Nefara closed her eyes, as she sent her aura out into the city, feeling it's life, it's people. After a moment she said, "Well, fantastic," she said without humor. "And I have to wonder, 'why'?" "Life is funny like that," Elvira said. "But the only way for any of us to be safe is to follow through with the plan. We just have to wait for Alleron and Carden to return. Then I'll tell you the rest."
Cecelia could feel all the eyes weighting on her, as she walked into the large room. It was similar to that of a court room, where she, at the center, was surrounded by two rows of chairs for the Council. "Cecelia Kenwood," the man at the center said. "You called an emergency Council, without reason. You best explain yourself, as you are wanted for high treason and immoral justice." Cecelia bowed deeply. "High Council," she said, "I have come to report that Council Leader, Samuel Loster has been murdered at the hands of Gabriel, previously concealed under the identity of Chris Martin..." Cecelia listened to the loud whispers before continuing. "That is not all," she said. "From my... experiences, there is something big happening in the Dark World," she said. "The vampires are on the move, and there..." she paused thinking. She had to word this so carefully. She would protect Lauren, and keep her out of this. There were larger issues at hand. "There is a newly turned vampire, Dexter, I believe, who is... plotting something with other vampires." "There are always plots," a woman interrupted. "The children of the damned are always seeking to take over us. How is this any different?" Cecelia swallowed. "Because our worst fears are capable of coming true. That no daylight, no Solis blade, no doorway, no stake even, will be able to stop and/or kill a vampire..."

Gabriel shook his head. He didn't understand his current situation. Why would they want him to kill Elvira, she didn't trust him, but who did? He calculated his chances of success. He was loyal to Elvira, but only in Nefara's case, the person he had sworn to protect. He had never been loyal to the Court, well he had, but that was long ago, and he already betrayed them. This was a different court, he had not pledged his loyalty to this one. Concluding in the fact that he would never be able to betray Dexter on anything. Elvira had given him the task to kill Dexter, easy as pie. Only now he had found Dexter together with a far older Vampire than himself: Problem. Dexter had told him to kill Elvira, only he was again far to easy prey for her, he couldn't even stop her from feeding. He did have a plan of his own now, which was finding out who would kill Nefara and take his task to be a gaurdian and kill the killer before he or she could strike. He guessed it was Lauren, but he wasn't to sure. Besides, Elvira would never let him come near her daughter. Answers to Dexter's question raced through his head: "I'm loyal to Elvira!" ends wrong. "I choose no side." no idea what outcome it will lead to. "I'm not sure." not his way of dealing with problems. He understood his loyalties. He was loyal to only one person, one person he would never betray. Himself! He ended with deciding that there was no answer to Dexter's question, no right one at least. There had to be an other answer, not directly linked to the question, and before he knew it, it passed his lips. "I can't kill Elvira."
