This is (very) based off of the Mortal Instruments Trilogy, by Cassandra Clare. (awesome books! you must read them!)
About:
Unknown to humans lies a world of magic and darkness.
There is a war. Between the angelic, Shadowhunters and the Underworlders (everyone else). It has been fought since the beginning of time, or so they say.
But the real battle is yet to come. There are more reports of Demons, the real danger. Is someone releasing the creatures or is the gate finally weakening?
There are basically two worlds. The Human world (mundane world), and the world of Elysia (where the Shadowhunters live) There are also portals to get through to one world or the other.
This rp takes place before the Accords (the peace agreement to stop the war), which is when the series takes place.
Shadowhunters:
These are an ancient people. They are Nephilim. For those who don't know about Nephilim. They are the biblical half-breeds. Half angle, half human. In this rp, they were created when The Angel came down to earth and put his blood in a chalice. The five select humans drank from the chalice, so that they became Shadowhunters, and their children would be Shadowhunters as well. (that's the myth anyway).
They are faster, stronger and more agile than regular humans. They use a certain type of weapon called a Stele. They draw ruins (tatoos) on their skin with the Stele, to guard themselves against certain things. Certain ruins give them certain "powers". Ruins are their main magic. All the ruins are listed in the Gray Book.
Their capital is in an alternate world. It's called the City of Spires (in English) or Luciante. Their government is the Clave. Everything for them resides in Elysia. That's their world.
Their job is to kill demons and help protect humans, without humans knowing about magic. They also are at war with the Underworlders, who are part demon, so in their eyes, need to be eradicated too.
Underworlders:
Underworlders are practically everyone else. The Vampires, the Werewolves, the Fair Folk, and the Warlocks. These groups are part demon. They have demon blood in them, which makes them unique.
They are fighting a war against the Shadowhunters, and have always been. They also hate each other. (lots of hatred going around XD). The Children of the Moon (werewolves) are at undeclared war with the Children of the Night (vampires). The Fair Folk are solitary creatures, living amongts themselves. They dispise warlocks, though there's no war (thankfully).
All Underworlders are immortal.
Vampires:
These are your traditional vampires. They can't go in sunlight (or risk being turned to dust). They can't wear or speak holy words. They can't walk onto holy ground. The only thing is that garlic has no effect on them. And yes, holy water will burn them. And yes, they drink blood. There's mainly one group of vampires (at least in the human world).
Both humans and shadowhunters can become vampires. Though it's harder for a shadowhunter to become a vampire.
Werewolves:
This is a disease. It's called Lycanthrope to be exact. These werewolves can change at will, except on a full moon. Then they have to be in their wolf form. They are organized in packs. There's a pack leader. Some packs fight amongst themselves for territory too.
Both humans and shadowhunters can become werewolves. Though it's harder for a shadowhunter to become a werewolf.
Fair Folk:
These people are fairies. But they're not your typical fairies, that dance, play music and are all pretty and happy. No, they'll easily kill you.
The Fair Folk are organized into the Seelie Court, with a Queen as their leader. They are solitary, trying not to involve themselves in other affairs. They hate pretty much everyone, especially warlocks.
And no, they don't fly. They range in appearance, but are human-sized. And they're "truth-tellers". They have to tell the truth. The problem is they don't always tell the whole truth. They speak half-truthes, equivocate.
Warlocks:
Warlocks are what you might think of wizards. Only men are warlocks. If they took a human wife, their (male) children would automatically be full warlocks (don't ask why).
They use potions, spell and curses, ect.
Demons:
These are evil, the most evil creatures. Everyone fears and hates them. They usually reside in the Demon world. But they can be summoned into other worlds.
They eat anything that is a live. They can range from creatures that spit acid to a mutated dinosaur. (use your imagination). Their main goal is to cause havoc and destroy things.
*your character can not be a demon*
You can have multiple characters here. I'd say four is the maximum. Try to be diverse in what you pick. You may not be a demon though. Try and match up so we can easily get something going.
