Okay so I took this idea from a few places, 1. The song Amaranth by Nightwish. Very nice song. 2. Amelia At-water Rhodes shapeshifter books, and 3. My imagination 
The land of Amor is home of a herbal flower called the Amaranth. It is home to a thousand legends saying that both cure and disease can be made from this flower. But only one has ever been found. And that one once picked had died and crumbled to dust. But the one who can take the flower can have the eternal life and as legend goes, fly to the heavens above.
The flower Amaranth is the flower that creates the Angels. These people live their lives forever walking the earth. Great wings stretch from their back and they can also shapeshift from their Bird-form to their Human-form. And a half-way shift. They protect this flower from most humans because of its sheer value. They protect it because it makes an evil too.
The flower if made wrong creates the Serpenti. These people live their lives forever and are faster, stronger and tougher then humans. They also have a serpentine-form and a human-form like the Angels. But they have a highly venimous bite and attack the Angels in a battle of eternity. Angels use the flower to create an anti-venom meanwhile the Serpenti use it to create venom. This flower is both the life and death of both people who cannot live in harmony.

The Amaranth flower is very rare and grows mostly ontop of the high cliffs or deep within caves where the sun barely reaches this flower, and water is abundant. Most humans search day and night for this flower and some do not return from their trips.
Humans (aka Settlers)
Most of these people come from average long-term households from the mountains. Very few travel into the mountains except for the naive, or the fortune hunters. The fortune-hunters barely catch a wiff of any flower and the naive travel deep into the caves and become the food of those who are unforgiving.
The humans are very crafty when they come along Angels or Serpenti. When they know how to deal with them they can easily but it is always the ambushes and the problems of amnesia that get to them. Being more like rats they really have nothing besides their brains to fight with. Using cross bows and setting traps as well as spears and armor they cannot really effectively fight the Angels or Serpenti. Barely being part of the war they usually do not. They search for Amaranth which is the "Fountain of Life" to them.
Humans have three towns as well as several smaller villages.
-Elkar: This city is fortified with walls and archer-covered posts for attacking. The walls keep back Serpenti and the Archer-covered posts can deal with Angels that stray too close. Though they are usually more worried about the barbarians that travel up the only valley in the grove of mountains. They sometimes find Angel attacks and such. Though usually it never happens. Serpenti attacks are more common but many people just see the giant snakes that attack..
-Davi: This farming town is surrounded with wide open spaces and plenty of cows and sheep as well as goats. These people only see the Serpenti attack cattle and sheep. They are armed with only their tools and crossbows. Though they have no need for seeing a serpenti means staying up all night hidden and watching your cattle and sheep for weeks on end. Usually never happens.
-Vakar: This mining community digs deeps into the mountains taking Iron ore out and Silver. They fun into snake problems but not really the Serpenti. They usually carry swords to hack snakes in two and only once have they found a huge snake. But they hacked it up and threw it aside. They sleep soundly in the caverns and are not really bothered by Serpenti.

The shapeshifters of the birds are very forgiving to those travels who approach and notice them. Though none remember their encounter, due to herbs given to them in food, they are kept clean and well fed until they can be left and forget about the entire night of travels. The herbs used also create illusions. Many people see werewolves or great large demons stalking the woods.
Angel's forms of birds are tremendously huge, with wing spans of 10 feet to 30 feet. The rarest kind is an Eagle while more common sparrows or song birds are around.
Experts in healing arts any angel attacked by a snake has about fifteen minutes before they are dead or unconsious. In this time they msut search for the herbs or must take a vial and drink it. They have stronger bones and skin but many do not have the reaction speed against a serpenti. Which travel faster and their stealth first strikes can knock out or kill an angel.
The angel's order comes from their species.
-Eagles The most powerful branch. These people are highly effective against serpenti because only the Mombre venom can really kill them. Though Andicon can easily crush them they usually avoid confrontation of them. Eagles sit ontop the tallest mountains and watch from every corner they can. Though not very friendly to other eagles nesting within their area they are very powerful. Most eagles will challenge their own to establish their nesting sites. When there are too many eagles and not enough sites, eagles must die. That is why there is only about ten eagles and mates.
-Falcons These people are extremely fast when in the air and use their tatical bows to kill. Though very weak against venoms they are highly effective at attacking Spitting Cobre because they can avoid the venom and kill them within seconds. These people nest within the cliffs as well, but lower down and use small caverns to establish campsites where they can use fire to warm themselves where as eagles use their feathers.
-Hawks Easily adapted to the forests they are wanderers amoung the rest of the clans and move from one place to another. More common then falcons they are much better at killing Boa're, They are weaker and are easily attacked as well. Usually goes by First Strike wins. They have a much better sense of hearing.
-Owls These Angels are very great at night. Large eyes and large ears create them into the perfect night time hunter. Also they are very skilled at creating anti-venoms and healing syrums. If an owl is within earshot they usually come to aid. They mostly use spears when in human form and barely attack serpenti.
-Song-Birds Being the most common these Angels are more human-interactive then any other. They are not powerful at all and are much more likely to stay amoung humans then others. But when discovered they are killed.

The shapershifters who turn the Amaranth into an agent of darkness turn into that of the form of a snake. Though these shakes are very large and much more deadly then the regular kind. They stay within the deep caverns building up their fortresses of rock and stones. Some snake's venom is so acidic it can melt rock. They use it to mine out their caverns and feast upon the rats that live there. They feast also upon game animal that they usually hunt outside for. These fortresses are strangely unique for they have slit holes in the rocks for ambushing attackers. They also have very narrow entrences and that is the many reasons why Angels barely ever go into the rocks.
Experts of poisons and stealth they sometimes capture angels, poison them with their acidic venom which paralyzes their powers for as long as they cannot make a cure, and force them into slavery. Stripping them of their wings. They also can use these Angels to create their potions of life and use them to gather human food for angel sacrifices. Though the angels are scarce in this way many die from Serpenti strikes, others die from the poison which causes blindess and amnesia. Humans kill them soon after they are discovered for they are demons of the sky.
The serpenti also have a more barbaric government. They live in Tribes usually regarding to their species.
-Cobre: They live in more open and wildernous crevices in the sides of cliffs. Narrow where the Angels cannot easily fly in. They also have the advantage of spitting venom. Useful when the Angels over. They can shoot acurately for about 60 feet. More then enough to take down an angel flying too close to the trees. Hooded Cobre usually keep the skin of their hood on their human forms. It is a sign of pride. These people are very irritated and rarely take prisoners.
-Andicon: They live out in the swampy and lake regions using the water to hide and striking when the Angels land to drink. Reaching massive sizes of over 30 feet these Serpenti, though have no venom, can crush an angel in a fraction of a second. They are much more dormant people and less hostile.
-Boa're: These people are much smaller then the Andicons but move much more rapidly and live amoung the thickest eldest forest of the land. With plently of foliage and trees they can sleep and hide in peace. They are much more of a gentler species and are much more likely to cut an Angel's wings and kill them leaving them out in the open as a sign.
-Mombre: These people are the magicons of the Serpenti. Much more civilized but extremely powerful. They are the smallest but most powerful tribe. Usually centralized in the deepest caverns these people establish mazes and caverns so unique they have never lost their home. Though attacked much more often they never lose their defensive battle and home other tribes with their various deep caverns that stretch to every tribe.
-Wyr (Not an actual snake lol) These people are blind, they are instictive and barely listen to orders unless them being Mombre orders, they dig the tunnels and use their acidic venom to both melt rock and paralyze angels. Their acidic salyiva is so powerful that nothing except diamond can stop it.
The war between the rock dwellers and the peak ascenders are one of two things. The serpentine can hunt these fowls and use their blood to do magic. This kind of magic is strong yet simple, it allows them to create an animal for their own desires or they can use it to create an abomination. Some of the Serpenti use it to create nightmares amoung the village folk and attack at night killing several townsfolk and eating them.
The angels watch over the humans and the valley to make sure these demons do not escape. Many of these eagles rest amoung the high cliffs which no serpenti, unless young or foolish enter, for one reason of being exposed. The angels also kill these serpenti whenever they are found. Need to knows
- Angels and Serpenti are very scarce compared to the hundreds of settlers.
- Serpenti live by a tribal code in which each tribe competes for leadership. Usually with spar, then strength, and finally a death battle between the two last standing. Usually Mombre win. Andicon barely take part of such being too relaxed in their lakes.
- Angels go by their feathery code. There is no use to fight if the Eagles always take their place at first.
- When Humans go missing, they only think of the myths and folklore, those who know about the secret world stay quiet for they can be killed for "Witchcraft" and "Blasphemy" They are hung for it.
