This is like shape shifters, but different. It is all from my imagination ;D
This takes place in a modern, 21st setting...
Each human has an Essena, or spirit, in a sense. What you might call a spirit or a soul, is called an essena (derived from essence)
Each human's essena is represented by an animal. It can be anything from a fish to an elephant to a wolf. The essena makes up the person, gives them their personality and sometimes even appearance. Althought all people have an essena, only some people can actually touch their essena conscienously. It is really rare for people who can do this, but someone who can isknown as Essen.
Essen:
You are born an Essen, weather you realize it or not. Most times people realize it around puberty.
You can "shapeshift" into your animals essena. Basically, you let your essena become your body; the two switch.
You're more connected to your animal than other people who can't touch their essena. You look more like your animal if you are an Essen. Some, more experienced people can even split their essena from their body, but only for a while. It is very painful and enduring. Sometimes, a person can die if they do that.
Each of you can be an Essen. Maximum, two characters. Please try to have different animals (Essenas)!!! We range from ages 18-24, college ages. Try to have your character attend a college, or something, so we can somehow get together
