Starting and Roleplaying in General:
Please don't post continually without other characters being involved because you'll cut a character out of the role play. This isn't really applied to before the characters meet and start to roleplay together. Once the role plays get moving, please wait for the rest of the roleplayers as a courtesy.
Creating a Roleplay:
A brief overview is needed when you first start a thread, especially one that is based off a book, TV show or movie. You want to tell people enough information so they get what they're roleplaying about without having to have to read/seen it. Give some history on what has been going on in the setting of the rp. If it fantasy or sci-fi, include boundaries, and concepts.
You are usually only allowed one or two characters, unless specified. There can also be minor characters where everyone controls them.
** the more characters you have = the more involved in a roleplay you must be = the more involved = the higher commitment **
You MUST understand this concept!
Hint: Don't make the roleplays too complex! (Example: too many types of creatures/races in a fantasy rp), because it's just to hard to work with and people will get bored and things just won't go too good from there. Simplify.
How to Roleplay:
It’s like writing a story (think of it like writing a story with many people and an unknown ending), so write it as if you’re writing a story:
Don’t say something like Jack cried (*kicks chair). That sentence would be put into: Jack cried and kicked the chair…
It's better to use past tense. There's no first person narrative rping unless specified.
Write with detail, not on just what you character(s) is saying but on what is going on, settings. You wouldn’t read a book if it just had what the character was saying. That is what needs to happen here. (It sounds harder than it actually is)
Example:
Jack ran through the woods. He could hear whatever it was closing in. He could hear its heavy breathing. The sun was setting and soon there’d be no more light left…(Something like that)
